What CASE Participants Say

“For anyone interested in Service Learning and Intercultural experiences in Costa Rica, CASE is the organization to choose. Our school works closely with CASE to design and implement student trips. This past March I brought 13 students to Costa Rica, ages ranging from 14-18 for 2 weeks, entirely organized by CASE. Matthew Cook took excellent care of our group to ensure a worthwhile, safe and fun experience for all. Matthew’s knowledge of the country and culture are invaluable. We were welcomed with open arms to communities that regular tourists would never have a chance to see or interact with. Students learn the value of service and gain experiences that help them to see the world through new eyes. We all gained an incredible sense of the country and left with hopes to return and  memories that will last a lifetime. My school, Appleby College, runs International Service Projects throughout the world and we have high standards for the organizations we work with. We were so pleased with CASE that we plan on establishing a long term relationship with them. Thank you CASE!”
-Erin Cater, Teacher at Appleby College, Toronto

“Going on C.A.S.E. I learned about REAL manual labor and hard work. But this trip to Costa Rica wasn't all about hard work. When my peers and I stayed in the rain forest with the native Bribri tribe, they opened up their hearts to me. They were some of the nicest people I have ever met! But being able to make a change in a person’s life who is less fortunate than I is a real pleasure. When all of the work was done, I promised myself to return to the Bribri tribe again before I die. Thanks Matt for a life-changing experience!!!”

“One of the most amazing trips I have ever been on, and I think everyone should try it.”
-Jamar, Student at City Charter High School, Pittsburgh PA

“Seeing Costa Rica with their own eyes, speaking the language, and working side by side with the people who live there enabled my students to open their eyes to new cultures and to look at their own culture in a way they never had before.  The itinerary was well thought out, and each step, from urban San José to the heart of the rainforest, helped my students stretch and grow.”
–Fran Turner, Teacher at St. Christopher’s School, Richmond VA

“This trip was full of firsts; from trying new food, and meeting new people, to going across sketchy bridges, and going across a ravine in a basket, this trip changed my life!”
-Sammy, Student in Eco-Act Program, Missouri Botanical Garden

"Working with Central American Service Expeditions has not only been a life changing experience for me, but it has become the foundation for me to do more service work within Latin America."
-Felicia, Student at City Charter High School, Pittsburgh PA

"Working with the community of Quebrada Arroyo was the highlight of our expedition. We no longer felt like tourists sampling the sights but like partners - building relationships and contributing to the sustainability of their lifestyle."
-Mary Beth Kircher, Teacher at Bryn Mawr School, Baltimore MD

“Our trip with Central American Service Expeditions was fantastic in every way. My students loved traveling with Matt. He was a great group leader, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and energetic. Our service projects were the best part of the trip. We at Richard Montgomery High School will definitely travel with CASE again!”
